Police investigating stabbing in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Police set-up a scene in Providence to investigate a stabbing on Wednesday evening.

The stabbing occurred on Sutton Street directly off Atwells Avenue.

The department said that the victim was a 31-year-old male who was stabbed in the leg and transported to the hospital.

The victim was conscious and alert when taken to the hospital, police said.

ABC 6 News crews on scene saw crime scene investigators enter a home with several cruisers outside.

Detectives are investigating the case, police said.

Crews also saw fire and EMS personnel on scene.
