Continuing Cold
The arctic air is sticking around through the week, giving us temperatures that will average 10 degrees colder than average. Clear skies and near calm winds overnight will allow temperatures to drop off to near 20 for Tuesday morning. Sunshine abounds and high temperatures Tuesday afternoon will top in the upper-30s. Wednesday we will see a brief change A we change wind direction to bring in air from the southwest. This will let in milder air just as an Alberta Clipper system comes through Southern New England. The result is shaping up to be primarily a rain event with some mixing with snow. The exception would be for the highest elevations north and west of Providence. Here we could find very minor accumulations, it all depends on the placement of the rain/snow line. Thursday looks unsettled with rain in the morning and slow clearing as the Clipper departs. Highs will be near 45. A reinforcing shot of Arctic air moves in for Friday. Expect sunshine and highs in the lower-30s.
