Fish story: Brady, Eli Manning exchange social media jabs over catches

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A New England Patriots perfect season would have been a great fish story, but as we all know, it’s the one that got away.

The Patriots famously lost Super Bowl XLII and their undefeated season to the New York Giants in 2008, and New England fans aren’t the only ones who haven’t let it go.

Tom Brady recently posted a photo to social media of fish he landed deep-sea fishing.

Former New York Giants quarterback, and MVP of the aforementioned Super Bowl, reeled in a significantly larger catch, posted online with the taunting message “Cute minnow, Tom!”

Brady shared the side-by-side of the two fish with the message “You use a helmet to catch that one too?” referencing the miracle ball to helmet catch Giants wide receiver David Tyree made in the closing minutes of Super Bowl XLII.

The play resulted in a 32-yard gain for the Giants, setting up what would be the winning touchdown caught by receiver Plaxico Burress.

The rivalry lives on.
