Services announced for Endicott College officer killed in crash

BEVERELY, Mass. (WLNE) — Funeral services and a law enforcement walkthrough have been announced for an Endicott College police officer who was killed in a a head-on car accident last week.
Sgt. Jeremy Cole was killed when he was struck while driving home early on Thanksgiving morning after leaving his evening shift.
Keoma Duarte, 40, was charged with motor vehicle homicide while operating under the influence of liquor and operating recklessly, manslaughter, and motor vehicle homicide by reckless operation, as well as faces civil motor vehicle violations for driving in the wrong direction on a state highway, speeding, and marked lanes violation.
A law enforcement walk through will be held on Monday, Dec. 9 at 1:30 p.m. at the Campbell Funeral Home in Beverly.
A public wake will then be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
“To the approximately 1,000 people who attended a vigil for Sgt. Cole on Tuesday night, to the thousands who have offered condolences and thoughts online and in person, thank you. Your thoughts and support have meant the world to our department over these past few days,” said Chief Kerry Ramsdell in a statement.
“I encourage everyone who knew Sgt. Cole to continue sharing stories about him. He was a wonderful man, loving father, proud family man and a protector of our campus. We miss him dearly,” Ramsdell said.
“He was known for his loving personality, dry wit, and unwavering dedication to his family, community, and profession,” his obituary states.
Cole leaves behind his wife, and four children, and was actively pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
He served as a dedicated Sergeant with the Endicott College Police Department for 15 years.
