Local Holiday Events Happening Today

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – If you’re looking to get in the holiday spirit there are many local activities you can take part in today:
9AM – Dartmouth Police Fill-the-Bus Toy Drive – The Dartmouth Police Department is hosting their annual Fill-the-Bus Toy Drive. Community members are encouraged to participate by donating new, unwrapped toys and gifts in their original packaging. This event starts at 9AM and runs until 4PM. Location: Outside of the Dartmouth Target, 479 State Road, Dartmouth.
10AM – The Museum of Work & Culture Holiday Open House – The Museum of Work & Culture, a division of the Rhode Island Historical Society, has a full day of activities at their free Holiday Open House. Among the many events be held, the open house will feature a new exhibit in the Museum’s rotating gallery that will display classic historic toys and games from the Rhode Island Historical Society’s collection. Location: The Museum of Work & Culture, 42 S. Main Street, Woonsocket.
12PM – Roger Williams Park Winter Wonderland – Visitors will have the opportunity for a festive fun from winter crafts to hot chocolate to visits with Santa. Location: Roger Williams Park.
1PM – Woonsocket Holiday Stroll – The 16th annual Woonsocket Main Street Holiday Stroll kicks off at 1pm. This event will give you the opportunity to shop in Woonsocket’s downtown area. This year a new ‘Reindog Parade’ will make its debut to the annual event. Location: Main Street, Woonsocket
3PM – Fall River Tree Lighting Celebration – The city of Fall River’s 2024 Tree Lighting Celebration will kick off with the 40th Annual Children’s Holiday Parade. Around 5pm, Mayor Paul Coogan will light the tree for the first time this season. Location: Fall River Government Center.
3PM – Taunton Lights On Festival – It is the 111th Lights On Festival in Taunton. The Taunton Green will be transformed into a winter wonderland with decorated storefronts along with holiday lights and displays. Although the activities start at 3pm, the opening ceremony will begin at 4:30pm. Activities run until 8pm. Location: Taunton Green.
4PM – East Providence Tree Lighting – East Providence is celebrating their annual Tree Lighting with an inaugural bonfire for residents to stay warm and celebrate. The event will feature food, vendors, music and performances along with the opportunity for a photo with Santa. Location: East Providence, City Hall, 145 Taunton Avenue, East Providence.
4:30PM – New Bedford Downtown Tree Lighting – The New Bedford Downtown Tree Lighting kicks off with a parade marching from the bottom of William Street, near the Whaling Museum to the library steps for the tree lighting. Location: Main Library, 613 Pleasant Street, New Bedford.
5:30PM – WaterFire Partial Holiday Lighting – A partial WaterFire lighting is set to take place as part of Providence’s Three Nights of Lights event series. The event will feature a Holiday Winter Market in Market Square featuring 15 local artist and makers. Location: Memorial Park, Providence
