Route 44 in Taunton to close nightly for maintenance

TAUNTON, Mass. (WLNE) — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation said that maintenance on Route 44 will close for maintenance work nightly beginning on Sunday.

The roadway between Arlington Street and Winter Street in both directions will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Dec. 30.

The following detours will be in place for the duration of the work:

Route 44 eastbound:

• Take a left onto Arlington Street.
• Take a right onto School Street.
• Take a right onto Winter Street.
• Take a left onto Route 44 eastbound.

Route 44 westbound:

• Take a right onto Winter Street.
• Take a left onto School Street.
• Take a left onto Arlington Street.
• Take a right onto Route 44 eastbound.

Drivers travelling through the area should use caution and expect delays.
