Patriots’ Hunter Henry gifts holiday presents to foster children

FOXBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — Patriots tight end Hunter Henry gave back to the community Tuesday night through his third annual event for foster children.

“It’s just such a wonderful time this time of year around Christmastime,” Henry said. “So if I can bring a smile to some kid’s face, it’s always big.”

Henry partnered with Communities for People for the third year in a row, giving away hundreds of Christmas gifts to foster kids from Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

“It’s like they’re in awe, they want hugs with him,” Communities for People CEO Craig Gordon said. “They want their presents, certainly, but they just love the attention.”

The Shaw’s and Star Market Foundation also gave away groceries to the families, holding a friendly bagging competition between Henry and the kids.

Families expressed appreciation for the tight end’s time.

“Hunter Henry goes all out for these kids, and that’s why we come,” foster mom Dottie Dallaire said. “We travel from Woburn to come out, so it’s very nice.”

As Henry celebrated his 30th birthday, he said the event is a great reminder of what’s really important this holiday season.

“Obviously this is a time where a lot of people are thinking about receiving,” Henry said. “But it’s a time where we should really reflect and think about giving.”
