Vehicle crashes into woods off I-95 in Exeter

EXETER, R.I. (WLNE) — Exeter firefighters were called to a report of a car off 95 northbound this morning.

According to a post on social media from officials, it happened around 7:20 a.m. between the weight station and the 165 overpass.

Initial reports were that the driver had removed themselves from the vehicle, but had spent several hours trapped in the car.

Upon the arrival of firefighters, crews found the driver out of the vehicle with Rhode Island State Police.

The car was deep in the woods, covered with fallen trees from the accident.

The driver was treated and transported by Exeter EMS to the hospital.

Exeter 2 Volunteer Fire Dept. assisted in cleaning a path for the tow company to remove the car.
