EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — East Providence Police said they launched a drone on Saturday after they were notified from RI Airport Police Department that a green laser was possibly being pointed at the cockpit of an approaching flight at T.F. Green.

According to officials, the call came in around 9 p.m.

A drone, with the help of the Seekonk Police Department, searched the shoreline where the reports said the lasers could have been coming from, but no suspects were located.

The FAA has reported a number of incidents in 2024 where lasers have been pointed at planes.

Pointing a laser at an approaching flight violates federal law.
