Fall River Police say man taken to hospital after accidentally shooting himself during police pursuit

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — The Fall River Police Department said a man was taken to the hospital after accidentally shooting himself during a police pursuit.

On Saturday evening, officers responded to the area of the Sunset Hill Housing Development on reports of gunshots.

At the scene, police said a suspect fled on foot, causing a police pursuit.

During the chase, the suspect accidentally shot himself in the leg, according to police.

The man was sent to an area trauma center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Fall River police said “no members of our agency discharged their firearms during the incident.”
