Stoughton Police ask for help finding suspect charged for vehicle break-ins, thefts, and credit card fraud
STOUGHTON, Mass. (WLNE) — The Stoughton Police Department said it is searching for the suspect believed to be responsible for multiple motor vehicle break-ins, car thefts, and credit card fraud.
Elvis Andrade, 32, of Brockton, is being charged with eight counts of breaking and entering a vehicle during the daytime with intent to commit a felony, four counts of larceny under $1,200, two counts of improper use of a credit card under $1,200, and one count of larceny over $1,200, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, and malicious destruction of property under $1,200.
On Dec. 4, Stoughton police went to an apartment complex on Buckley Road after a resident said their wallet was stolen and their debit card was used at a CVS.
One week later, on Dec. 11, police went to the same location to take a report of a vehicle that had been broken into overnight, according to Stoughton police.
Later that day, police said another resident reported that their car had been broken into and their wallet was stolen.
Additionally, they said their credit car was used at a CVS.
During the investigation, police discovered through surveillance video that a man wearing Grinch pajamas had allegedly used the debit card that was stolen in Stoughton.
Through further investigation, police said the same man was a suspect in an alleged vehicle theft and credit card fraud at a Walmart in Avon.
Stoughton police said it then connected the same individual to three other alleged vehicle thefts and one report of credit card fraud that occurred at the beginning of December.
On Dec. 13, Stoughton police worked with Brockton police to identify the suspect as Elvis Andrade.
On Dec. 24, police obtained an arrest warrant for Andrade.
Police say Andrade is wanted on five active arrest warrants.
