New Bedford plans for full slate of New Year’s Eve fun
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — New Bedford is getting into the new year’s spirit with a sprawling array of events across the city tonight.
The city is offering events at several downtown spots, including live music, karaoke, a dance party and a puppet band.
At the Custom House Square, fire dancers with cirque de light will perform, all leading up to the fireworks display over the New Bedford Harbor.
Officials warn residents that the bottom of Union Street at Route 18 will be closed to vehicles, so viewers can have the best spot for the fireworks.
The city’s celebrations begin at 5 p.m. and the fireworks show is scheduled for around 8:30 p.m.
