Witnesses: Car runs through stop sign, hits 7-year-old girl

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — A young girl was rushed to the hospital after being hit by a car early Wednesday evening.
Police told ABC6 News a 7-year-old girl was on the sidewalk on Greenwich Ave., when she was hit by a black SUV.
Witnesses said the car was speeding and ran through a stop sign before hitting the child.
The driver, only identified as a 47 year-old man, was arrested on scene. It’s believed he was impaired at the time of the crash.
An investigation has been launched. No further information is available.
