‘Race Village’ construction continues ahead of Newport stop-over

NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) – With less than a day until the Newport stop-over of the Volvo Ocean Race, workers continued construction on Race Village at Fort Adams State Park.

The sailboats are set to cross the Newport leg of the finish line early Tuesday morning. A welcome celebration is taking place at 4 p.m.

Nearly 600 volunteers are helping with the 13-day event.
