ACUSHNET, M.A. (WLNE) – Empty envelopes and a broken drawer, just some of the things left behind after a thief ravaged his way through Off Broadway School of Dance in Acushnet.

"As I was pulling in the parking lot I saw all the glass and cops everywhere" says owner Nichole Sanders.

The thief, breaking through the glass front door, making his way into the office sometime overnight Saturday.

The culprit taking off with over three-thousand dollars. The business next-door was also broken into.

"Honestly as soon as I saw the glass smashed, that was my first worry because I knew it was here and that was a value that someone really would want" Sanders says.

Sanders explains that her students raised that money over the course of several months to help foot the hefty bill for Nationals in July.

"It’s a horrible feeling, honestly. I know that these kids worked so hard to get this money and to have it just taken like that is a horrible feeling" Sanders said.

"Why do you do this? Why did you steal money from little kids? 12-year-old Ava Texeira adds.

Now with less than two-months until the competition, the team’s fate remains uncertain, But Sanders is staying optimistic. "We’re willing to do whatever we can to help so that we can get these kids to nationals."

As far as whoever did this, police have not released any information on the suspect.
