Dartmouth High School given shelter in place order after assault

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE) — The Dartmouth Police Department said that Dartmouth High School was given a shelter in place order Wednesday morning after an altercation between two students.

Police responded to the school around 10:30 a.m. after a student approached a fellow student and attempted to stab them with a screwdriver attached to a pen.

The victim was able to get away from the suspect and was uninjured.

Police said the shelter in place order was given to allow staff and officers to find the weapon.

The suspect was arrested, transported to the hospital, and was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, assault with intent to murder, assault and battery, and assault with intent to cause serious bodily harm.
