WAREHAM, MA (WLNE) – Wareham Police have taken a suspect into custody after a pursuit early Thursday morning.
Police say a vehicle was observed committing a traffic violation in the area of Marion Road and High Street in Wareham around 1:35 a.m. Thursday. Police attempted to stop the vehicle, before the operator sped up and evaded police, committing several additional violations.
Wareham Police pursued the vehicle to a mobile home park on Swifts Beach Road, where a male suspect exited the vehicle.
Police ordered the man to the ground, at which point he refused to comply and a taser was deployed. Police say the taser had no effect on the man and he was able to reach a trailer where two males helped him inside before closing and locking the door.
When Wareham Police attempted to gain entry, the suspect fled out of a back door of the trailer before being apprehended in a nearby wooded area by responding officers.
The suspect, Ron E. Goodrich of Wareham, was arrested and now faces the following charges:
- Failure to stop for Police
- Speeding
- Failure to stay within marked lanes
- Disorderly conduct
- Resisting arrest
- Operating a motor vehicle after license suspension
- Operating an uninsured motor vehicle on a public way
Wareham Police say additional charges will be forthcoming for the male suspects who aided Goodrich.
