RFP posting keeps Washington Bridge replacement efforts on schedule

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Transportation posted a final request for proposal for the Washington Bridge westbound span’s replacement Friday, keeping the project on schedule.
Since December, companies have been able to ask questions of RIDOT about an initial request for proposal.
The request for proposal outlines the work RIDOT needs done on the bridge and what would be expected of a company that wins the bid.
It also asked contractors for cost proposals.
The state will review submissions and grade them based on the contractors’ proposed technical approach and schedule.
RIDOT said the state will make an award of the contact by June 6.
At that time, the final project cost and schedule will be laid out, a spokesperson for RIDOT said.
