UPDATE: 4-year-old girl, woman struck by vehicle in Woonsocket

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — A four-year-old girl and an adult woman were struck by a vehicle near Hamlet Middle School in Woonsocket Monday morning, according to Woonsocket police.

The incident occurred at 7:07 a.m., when Woonsocket police received a call of two pedestrians struck by a car.

The four-year-old girl sustained serious injuries and was taken to Landmark Hospital by med flight before being transferred to Hasbro Children’s Hospital.

The adult woman also sustained serious injuries and was taken to Rhode Island Hospital by Woonsocket emergency personnel via ambulance.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and is cooperating with police.

The driver is currently with police at the Woonsocket police station.

The department’s accident reconstruction personnel are currently investigating the crash.
