Woonsocket: 4-year-old struck by car in critical condition
WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — A four-year-old girl and her mother were struck by a car Monday morning outside of Hamlet Middle School.
The Woonsocket Police Department’s accident reconstruction team wrapped up its investigation around 12 p.m. and Hamlet Avenue reopened to traffic.
Woonsocket police say the incident happened just after 7 a.m. Monday when they received a call of two people hit by a car.
The four-year-old girl was taken to Landmark Hospital by MedFlight before being transferred to Hasbro Children’s Hospital where she remains in critical condition.
The mother also has serious injuries and was taken to Rhode Island Hospital by ambulance.
Police say the driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
There is no word yet if any charges will be filed.
