Suspects held without bail in killing of Providence 18-year-old

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Three suspects appeared before a judge Wednesday in connection with the killing of a Providence 18-year-old in August 2024.

20-year-old Julien Santiago, 18-year-old Jalen Santiago, and 20-year-old Jose Diaz were each charged with one count of first-degree murder, one count of conspiracy, one count of discharging a firearm when committing a crime of violence resulting in death, and one count of carrying a firearm without a license.

The three suspects are accused of killing 18-year-old Darmani Balbuena on his birthday during a gathering on Rhodes Street on Aug. 25, 2024.

All three suspects were held without bail.
