Motion Nightclub to remain closed as hearing continued

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Motion Nightclub was ordered to remain closed for another day after the Providence held a hearing on the venue’s closure Wednesday.

The club on Broad Street was ordered closed for 72 hours after a disturbance on Jan. 26 that required 20 police officers to contain and resulted in seven arrests

The board decided to continue the hearing at 4 p.m. on Jan. 30, and the club was ordered to stay closed until then.

Police said several people became “confrontational and aggressive toward the officers” prior to the arrests.
