Parishioners rally to rebuild Providence church that burnt down

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Parishioners at Impact Center Providence Church have rallied to rebuild after a fire ripped through the building on Jan. 29.

Nearly $18,000 has been raised on GoFundMe for the reconstruction effort.

Crews arrived on the corner of Elmwood Avenue and Greenwich Street to find heavy smoke and fire on the first and second floors of the building, and had to help one person evacuate before having to back out due to the strong flames.

The roof of the building also caved in, and neighboring buildings were evacuated as a safety protocol. There were no injuries.

Church leaders also said that a building on Broad Street has been used temporarily.
