Mutual aid responds to early morning funeral home fire in East Greenwich
EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (WLNE) — IAFF Local 3328 said that a fire in East Greenwich Sunday morning required multiple departments providing assistance.
The fire occurred at the Hill Funeral Home on Main Street at approximately 4 a.m.
Crews from Warwick, West Warwick, Coventry and North Kingstown responded to help extinguish the flames.
The union said that a third alarm was required to extinguish the fire, and its cause was still under investigation.
Officials said that some fire hoses froze due to the freezing temperatures.
In addition, one firefighter was treated on scene for injuries.
Videos posted to social media by the firefighters union showed the roof of the building engulfed in flames.
