URI explores creating state’s first public medical school
SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — The University of Rhode Island has announced it will study the possibility of establishing Rhode Island’s first public medical school.
URI and a state senate study commission will look into both the state’s healthcare workforce, and how a medical school at URI could help fix the healthcare work force shortage.
The final report on the feasibility of the project will be released in June, with recommendations due to the state senate by December.
