Providence pallet shelters to open Feb. 11

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Housing announced the opening date for the ECHO Village pallet houses.

The shelters, located on Victor Street, will officially open on Feb. 11.

These 45 single-occupant shelters were initially expected to open in the spring of 2024, but were put on hold while crews worked on the electrical, heating, and fire suppression systems and alarms.

ECHO Village will also have offices, ADA accessible bathrooms, laundry, and community space.
