Three families displaced after Woonsocket house fire

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — The Woonsocket Fire Department said three families are displaced after a house fire on Tuesday morning.
Around 8:12 a.m., crews were notified about a structure fire on the corner of Fairmount St. and Water St.
At the scene, crews said they discovered a “heavy fire” on the third floor window, and that the structure was occupied.
First responders then battled the fire on the outside of the structure, while other crews helped residents get out of building.
Officials said the majority of the fire was contained within about 20 minutes.
No firefighters or residents were injured in the fire, according to officials.
However, three cats perished, and two other cats are missing.
About 10 people were displaced due to smoke and fire damage to the third floor of the structure.
The Red Cross is helping the families effected.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
