Coventry Fire officials warn residents of phone scam

COVENTRY, R.I. (WLNE) — The Coventry Fire Department said it is advising residents to be aware of a phone scam.

Officials said residents have received calls that appear to be from the Coventry Fire Department’s real phone number, claiming they owe money to the fire district.

The Coventry Fire Department is letting residents know that these calls are fraudulent, and to not provide any personal or financial information over the phone.

Officials said anyone who receives these calls are asked to call the Coventry Police Department at 401-826-1100.
