Coventry Police asking public for help after identifying human remains found in woods

COVENTRY, R.I. (WLNE) — The Coventry Police Department is asking the public for help after releasing the identity of human remains that were found in the woods in town.

Police said the bones belonged to Heather Boisvert, who was last seen in Providence in August 2017.

Police said two people discovered the remains in a wooded area near Gadoury Avenue and Eisenhower Street on April 29, 2023.

Police responded and turned the bones over to the state medical examiner.

The bones have now been identified as those of Boisvert, who went missing at 26 years old.

Her disappearance was reported to the Providence Police Department, and she had been missing for seven years.

Police said, due to circumstances surrounding Boisvert’s disappearance, her death is being investigated as suspicious.

“We’re calling on the community for assistance in learning more about Heather,” Coventry Police Detective Paul Pacheco said. “We’re confident there are people out there that have information related to who Heather was, her whereabouts prior to her going missing and her interaction with others.”

The medical examiner, FBI, attorney general and state police are all part of the investigation.

Police said Boisvert had last been seen in August of 2017, and she had been known to frequent Providence, Cranston and Coventry.
