Woonsocket police arrest driver in fatal collision

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Woonsocket police have made an arrest in connection to a January 27 collision that left a woman seriously injured along with her four-year-old daughter, who later died from her injures.

William Laureano-Benitez is charged with driving as to endanger resulting in serious bodily injury and driving as to endanger resulting in death.

The incident occurred on the morning of January 27 when Laureano-Benitez struck Dena Khan, 34, and her daughter Eliza, 4, on Hamlet Avenue, according to Woonsocket police. 

Laureano-Benitez will be arraigned Thursday at 6th District Court in Providence after surrendering to police Thursday.
