Scooter operator struck by car in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A scooter driver was struck by a car in Providence Thursday night while attempting a left turn from Laura Street onto Broad Street, according to Providence police.

The incident occurred at 9:20 p.m. when police responded to the Laura Street-Broad Street intersection, interviewing the victim who stated he was suffering from right leg pain.

The vehicle that struck him fled outbound, and the victim could not identify the driver or vehicle type, according to Providence police.

Police patrol units searched the area and were unable to locate the vehicle.

The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.
