MBTA to hold a community meeting on long-anticipated South Coast Rail launch

FREETOWN, Mass. (WLNE) — The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority is expected to provide details on the launch of the South Coast Rail.

The MBTA announced last week that starting march 24th, trains will take passengers from New Bedford, Fall River, Taunton, Freetown and Middleboro to Boston after a sixty-five year long wait.

A spokesperson for the MBTA says it’s pending final approval from the Federal Railroad Administration.

Officials with the authority will update Bay Staters tonight in a community meeting at Freetown Elementary at 6 p.m.
