Bristol man accused of stabbing two women repeatedly

BRISTOL, R.I. (WLNE) — Bristol police have arrested a town man after he allegedly stabbed two women during a domestic altercation on Monday.
Eric Squires of Bristol faces a litany of charges, including two counts of felony domestic assault on persons over the age of 60 resulting in serious bodily injury, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon in a dwelling house, one count of weapons other than firearms prohibited and one count of possession of a knife during the commission of a felony.
The incident occurred at approximately 5 p.m. Monday when Bristol police responded to the Wood Street residence for a report of a domestic disturbance.
A male subject, later identified as Squires, was found standing in the hallway, covered in blood and unresponsive to police instructions, according to the Bristol Police Department.
Officers entered the apartment and found that two adult females, who police said were the suspect’s mother and aunt, had been stabbed multiple times.
According to the Bristol Police Department, the suspect’s aunt was stabbed 12 times.
Squires was taken into custody a short time later and the two victims were transported to Rhode Island Hospital and were in stable condition at the time of the transport.
Squires was on bail for a previous domestic assault arrest and was arraigned in 2nd District Court Tuesday and was remanded to the ACI.
His next court appearance is pending and the incident is still under investigation.
