Prout School student sings at Carnegie Hall

WAKEFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — Logan Hoard, a junior at the Prout School in Wakefield, just got back from a once-in-a-lifetime experience performing at Carnegie Hall in New York.

“I have always sung my whole life,” Hoard said. “It really started with the piano, that was my big first thing.”

Hoard was selected to sing in the choir as part of the 2025 American High School Honors performance series at Carnegie Hall.

“Being on that stage and looking out at and seeing all these people and knowing that you are on such a prestigious stage in such a prestigious venue, it’s something I had never experienced before,” Hoard said.

Ryan Cox, Hoard’s music teacher, said making it to Carnegie Hall is not something just anyone can add to their resume.

“It’s an incredibly unique thing just to have these high school students performing on the biggest stage in the world,” Cox said. “This kind of is the Super Bowl of arenas; this is the world stage.”

“[Hoard] is so innately passionate about music but also feels it in a really mature way, beyond the years of a student,” Cox said.

Hoard had the opportunity to learn and perform with world-class conductors, composers, and music educators.

“I honestly feel like performing is the most genuine version of myself,” Hoard said. “I feel like I am truly Logan Hoard when I perform and when I go out and share this gift with all these people.”

Hoard was the only student from Rhode Island to get this opportunity.
