Man flown to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by car in Bellingham

BELLINGHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — The Bellingham Police Department said a man was airlifted to the hospital after being hit by a car Tuesday night.

Police said the 57-year-old man from the Bellingham area was hit on North Main Street around 9:42 p.m.

According to Bellingham police, the investigation showed the man was crossing North Main Street when he was hit.

An officer on scene began life-saving measures and received additional aid when first responders arrived.

The victim was originally taken to a nearby hospital, before being airlifted to a trauma center, according to Bellingham police.

Officials said the condition of the man is “currently unknown.”

The driver involved in the incident remained on scene and is cooperating, according to police.

The Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Crash Construction Team and the Bellingham Police Department are investigating the crash.
