Juvenile left with serious injuries after mini bike collides with car in Warwick
WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Warwick police responded to a crash on Post Road Tuesday involving a juvenile on a minibike and a car.
The accident occurred at 9:50 p.m. in the area of 840 Post Road, where officers arrived to find the crash in the northbound lane.
The 31-year-old male driver of the car was uninjured, and the juvenile male operator of the mini bike was found lying in the southbound lane with signs of serious injuries.
He was transported to Hasbro Children’s Hospital, according to the Warwick Police Department.
The Warwick police accident reconstruction team investigating the incident determined that the car was traveling north on Post Road after stopping at a red light.
The car then approached the truck route entrance to the Walmart store, when three juveniles on mini bikes exited against the one-way entrance onto Post Road.
They then turned left in front of the approaching vehicle, with the car striking one of the minibikes, ejecting the juvenile into the southbound lane.
The initial investigation determined that speed was not a factor in the incident and the driver of the car is not facing charges at this time.
