Blue Cross Blue Shield set to pay out $2.67 billion from class action lawsuit settlement

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Some Blue Cross Blue Shield customers will soon see a payout from a class-action lawsuit.

The health insurance giant has agreed to pay $2.67 billion to those impacted when the company allegedly broke anti-trust laws.

In a lawsuit filed in 2013, Blue Cross Blue Shield was accused of limiting market competition, which caused higher premiums and fewer options for policy holders.

While the suit has been settled, Blue Cross Blue Shield has denied wrong doing.

The payments began on Tuesday.
