PLYMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE) — The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office said a man who was charged in connection to a fatal shooting in October of 2024 was indicted on Feb. 11.

24-year-old David Jerome was indicted of murder, reckless endangerment of a child, unlawful discharge of a firearm within 500 feet of a building, threat to commit a crime, three counts of negligent operation of a motor vehicle, assault by means of a dangerous weapon, and unlawful possession of a large capacity weapon or large capacity feeding device.

On Oct. 25, 2024, Plymouth police were dispatched to the parking lot on Middle Street after receiving a 911 call reporting a person had been shot.

At the scene, police discovered 41-year-old Brent Berkeley suffering from multiple gunshots wounds, according to the District Attorney’s office.

Berkeley was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Further investigation indicated that the defendant and victim were involved in a minor traffic accident, which led to a physical altercation, followed by the alleged shooting.

Jerome’s 18-month-old son was in the defendant’s car during the incident, according to officials.

The District Attorney’s Office said Jerome was identified by witnesses, and taken into custody by police.

Jerome will be arraigned at a later date.
