Bustling with business; Valentine’s Day for a local floral shop
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Just two days away from Valentine’s Day and Studio Flowers in Providence was bustling with business.
“We are over 200 deliveries for this year so far and the last two days is usually when we see walk-ins, the phone ringing, and the internet is bringing us business,” Co-founder of Studio Flowers Grace Dugan said. “We are waking up to orders.”
Studio Flowers sits in the Fox Point neighborhood.
Dugan and co-founder Danielle Clarke said some of the blooms in their studio are hard to find elsewhere.
“Gorgeous roses and double tulips; we’ve been able to find some special things, things we haven’t seen in the market, an that we’ve been able to offer here,” Dugan said.
With plenty of room in the shop, the creativity is never ending.
“We have very unique choices,” Dugan added. “We have probably the largest cooler in Rhode Island for flowers so that allows us space to offer a few blooms instead of 50 of one style.”
“We like mixing flowers,” explained Clarke. “We think it’s far more interesting to do a mix of roses and greenery and blooms coming from all over the world. We have things coming from Holland, from Ecuador.”
With blooms coming from all over the world, Clarke said it does come at a cost for customers.
“For holidays, it’s supply and demand. Things are always going to increase. Imagine the thousands of florists around the world and the farmers that have to supply millions of roses,” Clarke explained. “Of course there’s going to be an increase with the holidays.”
