Portsmouth Police award man for saving woman’s life

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (WLNE) — The Portsmouth Police Department said it awarded a man the “Civilian Lifesaving Award” after he saved a woman’s life last year.
On Wednesday, Brian Finn was presented the award “in recognition of his bravery and swift action.”
On Jan. 7, 2024, Finn was driving across the Mt. Hope Bridge when he discovered a woman attempting to climb over the railing, according to police.
He then pulled over and ran to her.
Police said Finn “held onto her” until they showed up to the scene.
“Thanks to his quick thinking and selfless actions, the woman – who had been struggling with serious health challenges – was safely secured and given the help she needed,” the Portsmouth Police Department said.
