Alviti to appear before house and senate committees on Washington Bridge progress

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Progress on the demolition and reconstruction of the Washington Bridge will be the focus of a house and senate oversight committee hearing.

Both committees will hear from department of transportation director Peter Alviti about progress on demolition and reconstruction of the west bound side of the bridge.

In a joint statement, the committee heads said today’s hearing is needed, as “The process is moving more slowly than many of us anticipated and expected.”

Today’s hearing is at 3 p.m. at the state house.
