Tiverton woman killed in fiery car crash

TIVERTON, R.I. (WLNE) — A Tiverton woman died in a single-vehicle crash Thursday night in the area of 840 Lake Road, according to the Tiverton Police Department.

Jennifer M. Sylvia, 52, was trapped inside her vehicle after it went off the road, hit a tree and caught fire at approximately 9:53 p.m., and firefighters and officers were unable to remove her from the vehicle

Sylvia was the only occupant in the car.

She was rushed to St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River where she was pronounced deceased.

Lake Road was closed on both sides for approximately three hours after the accident.

Police said that speed appears to be a factor, and Tiverton police accident reconstruction personnel are still investigating the crash.
