PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Facing an empty Abbot Park Place food pantry, Better Lives Rhode Island posted a photo of bare shelves to social media on February 5.

The donations came pouring in for the organization, among them a large donation of stock and money.

East Providence-based Feast & Fettle donated 300 pounds of nonperishable goods and a check for $15,000 to Better Lives RI in response to the empty shelves post.

“When we saw the need at Better Lives, there was no hesitation we knew we had to step in,” said Olivia Johnson of Feast & Fettle.

“The fact that their team moved just as fast to make it happen made it even better. This is the kind of work that keeps me motivated every day.”

About the donations, Better Lives RI Executive Director Paula Hudson said:

The need we’re seeing for food and services is greater than ever, and with that, we are more reliant on the support of those who can give back. Feast & Fettle reached out immediately after hearing about our need and expressed a strong desire to help our community. The quick response and generosity from their entire team allowed us to restock our shelves and continue serving our community members. We are immensely grateful for their kindness and support and feel lucky to have companies like Feast & Fettle in our backyard.

Feast & Fettle also delivered snowstorm surplus food to Haus of Codec, a youth housing organization, and BAGLY Wednesday.
