Massachusetts State Rep for Taunton dies after pancreatic cancer battle

TAUNTON, Mass. (WLNE) — State Representative Carol Doherty died Saturday morning after a battle with pancreatic cancer, her office said in a social media post.

The 82-year-old represented the Third Bristol District of Taunton and Easton.

Her office said that Doherty was first elected to the legislature in 2020, and previously worked as an elementary school teacher, guidance counselor, school committee member, and president of the Massachusetts Teachers Association.
