Dighton crews battle garage fire, Route 44 Westbound shut down
DIGHTON, Mass. (WLNE) — The Dighton Fire Department said it put out a fire in a small commercial garage with help from mutual aid Tuesday evening.
At 5:20 p.m., crews were dispatched to a commercial property on Winthrop Street for reports of a fire.
At the scene, officials said a small fire was discovered in the front corner of the garage and put out quickly.
“Our crews got to the scene very quickly, and that gave us a leg up on fighting the fire,” Dighton Fire Chief Christopher Maguy said.
While crews responded to the fire, the westbound lanes of Route 44 were shut down.
The Dighton Fire Department and the State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit are investigating the cause of the fire.
