Providence City Council to meet on city PPSD control

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence City Council will meet tonight, and work on ways to give the Capitol City local control of its own school system.

Thursday night, the city council will work on passing a resolution in support of the state senate’s bill to ensure Providence regains local control of their schools this year.

The council will also vote on a resolution in support of the state senate’s special commission to ensure a successful turnaround from state control to city control.

The city council will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday.
