North Providence Police investigating ‘suspicious’ death at music studio

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The North Providence Police Department said it is investigating the death of a man whose body was found during a well being check.

Police responded to a Pressure Records Studio on Humbert Street around 1:15 p.m. Saturday to find the body of a 41-year-old Providence man who was renting the space.

“Injuries were visible once officers and detectives got in there, which alerted them that this may be more than just a health issue or a sudden death,” Colonel Alfredo Ruggiero said.

Ruggiero said it was not the first time police have responded to the studio.

“We have gotten calls for loud music, nuisance to that area,” he said. “Officers have been there to let the folks inside know that they need to quiet down.”

The department said the Medical Examiner’s Office would determine the cause of death, adding that detectives were preserving the scene in case foul play was determined.

“If there was foul play, we wanted to get in front of it,” Ruggiero said. “Instead of not being prepared if we got some bad news once the autopsy was performed.”
