RIDOT announces completion of Washington Bridge superstructure demo

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Transportation, marking a milestone on the Washington Bridge demolition work, while also cautioning drivers about the effects of continued demolition on their commute this week.

RIDOT said that demolition on the superstructure, or the road bed, has finished as of last Wednesday.

This week, RIDOT will dismantle the substructure, or the piers and foundation of the bridge.

The demolition will take place during the daytime, with no overnight hammering.
