About 70 people displaced after apartment fire in Johnston

JOHNSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Johnston Fire Department said about 70 people are displaced after a fire at an apartment complex Monday morning.
Around 9:24 a.m., crews were notified of a fire at the Bainbridge Apartments on Simmonsville Avenue.
At the scene, firefighters reported a heavy fire coming from a second and third floor apartment.
Crews declared the fire a second alarm and evacuated the building.
Officials said nobody was injured.
The Red Cross was on standby at the apartment complex.
Mutual Aid from Cranston, Providence, Smithfield, and West Warwick crews assisted the Johnston Fire Department on scene and at the station during the fire.
