PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (WLNE) — A man was arrested by Portsmouth police for a domestic disorderly conduct charge and went on to clog booking cell toilets and destroy the booking area sprinkler system, according to Portsmouth police.

Eric Stewart was arrested last week after officers responded to a call of a domestic verbal argument between a male and female.

Arriving officers discovered the living room to be damaged during the incident which they attributed to Stewart.

Stewart also had a steak knife protruding from his right rear pocket according to police.

Stewart was arrested at this time and transported to Portsmouth police headquarters for processing.

Police said that Stewart then clogged the toilets and destroyed the sprinkler system in the booking area.

He was arraigned at Newport County District Court on February 19 and was released on personal recognizance.
